The Nurse Charming Story

Greetings members of my medical professional family!

My name is Teresa E. Lewis, but you can call me Tee. I am an Outpatient Surgery Nurse and CEO of Nurse Charming. I was inspired to start this new quest during my detail to our COVID 19 unit.

I love working with outpatient surgery patients because I can enlighten and encourage them through their health crisis. I’ve been told that my warm smile and kind personality are spirit-lifting. Unfortunately, my smile became hidden behind a surgical mask when I was called to serve on the COVID 19 Unit.

Working on the COVID Unit was very challenging and seemed to zap the zeal right out of the joy of my calling.

One day, while caring for my patient, I gave her my usual 'behind the mask smile' and thanked her for allowing me to care for her, that day. Suddenly, she began to cry! She thanked me for having such a caring heart and expressed that my happy eyes revealed the ‘Charming Smile’ hidden behind my cold blue mask. Her compliment gave me a sense of renewed purpose. Nurse Charming was born that day! I left that room on a mission to help other health care professionals rediscover and renew their calling. Since I've always been crafty, I was lead to design and create products that help all medical professionals look and feel good about the essential care they give to their patients!

Stay encouraged, my medical family! We’ll get through this COVID 19 crisis together. In the meantime, allow Nurse Charming to help you smile along the journey!

Tee's Bio

Always a Servant

As long as I can remember, I have always answered the call to serve, from helping my grandmother, Lillian,  pick weeds from her garden on the hottest day, one summer afternoon, to serving the city of Indianapolis as a firefighter, and, currently, as a RN who serves the military veterans at Indy's VA Hospital. I've always taken my calling to serve seriously and I try to keep a smile on my face and laughter in my heart, when doing so!

I started my career in Public Safety as a firefighter with the Indianapolis Fire Department and, subsequently, Pike Township Fire Department. I served a total of 24 years in Public Safety. During this time, I received my Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Martin University and my MBA from Indiana Institute of Technology, Fort Wayne, IN.

I quickly moved up the ranks, becoming a Lieutenant/Deputy Fire Marshal, Fire Marshal, and Division Chief of Administrative Services. After retiring from a Line of Duty Injury, I completed an accelerated Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) from Marian University. I served as a nurse with St. Vincent Hospital for 5 years before coming to my final destination, the ultimate career in service, the Indy VA Hospital. At the VA,  I feel blessed to be my "Brother's (and Sisters) Keeper" or as President Lincoln states "...to care for those who shall have Borne the Battle."

After joining the VA I continued my education and received my Masters of Science in Nursing Degree (MSN). Finally, as told in my Nurse Charming Story, I have reinvented my servitude and emerge as an entrepreneur who handcrafts jewelry and gifts to help make you laugh, smile, and feel good about the essential service you provide as medical professionals. Serve well, my sisters and brothers! Always keep laughter in your hearts, it is good medicine! (LIGM)
